power radio antenna won't retract

About 2 months ago I began to notice that the power aerial would go up easily but I had to keep pushing the down button several times for it retract. It started to get worse. Now it won’t go down at all. Where should I start?

This may sound stupid but it worked for me. Try a little grease and give it a slight push down while someone else is on the button. Worked on my LC and DD car. Both still work fine now.
