Hi all. I've got a problem.
I've got a 1998 105 standard. 1HZ NA. It starts perfect every time, hot, cold and after being parked for a month. Dosent and has never blown any smoke.drives perfect up to 2200 RPM, then dies. No power after. It will rev further on flat road, but very slowly. But will loose it very quickly back to 2200. It happened on a trip to Sydney, Same on either tank. Fuel economy hasnt changed.
What ive done so far. Cleaned the fuel cap breather. Done all filters. Cleaned snorkel and did the intake mod. Drained both tanks ( Both OK ). Checked the filter basket on the inj pump inlet ( Has been removed ). Tried putting a low pressure fuel pump before the filter, Made no noticeable difference.
Any body have any constructive help?
Cheers in advance.

Sorry, im not familiar with this engine but can you run a fuel pipe straight from fuel pump into a fuel can to eliminate tank, filter and pipes. If you dont have any air restriction, compression is good then its normally fuel delivery.

Yes, it could be the pump but I would want to rule everything else out before removing the pump and injectors to be checked. The 98 shouldn't have an egr system to worry about so thats a help. If the Diesel pump has a built in feeder pump then you will be able to run it from a fuel can, I used to put neat diesel cleaner in this way to give it good clean out. This would eliminate the fuel lines and filters, it could also have something to do with the control system for the duel tanks, a blockage around that area is probable. If you can run it from a bottle or fuel can just to see if that allows it to rev up past 2500 then you will have a better idea where to go next, as to either look towards the pump or to the fuel supply lines.

Cheers Julian Stead. I will do this ASAP.
I was just looking at an exploded view of the inj pump. Under the fuel cut solenoid there is another filter basket. I know the front baskets can get blocked, But without it the rear one could be blocked. Same symptoms?
Anyone had experience with this filter?

I'm venturing a guess that most of us have US 4.7 gassers, some longing for 100's with no spark plugs, but no experience with them (at least me).

I flushed the fuel lines with compressed air and ran it from a bottle of fuel straight to the inj pump. No difference. Looks like it may be time for the pump and injectors :(
