Power Loss...

Hey Everyone,

I have a 96 FZJ80, 102k miles. At 94k, I did plugs, distrib cap and rotor. The plug wires looked good when I changed the plugs.

When I drive it, it seems like there has been a loss of power. Just cruising, it would kick out of overdrive ( or unlock the converter) to go over some steeper highway overpasses.

The only things I can think of are plug wires, the distributor (or something in it), or the cats being plugged.

Has anyone experieced this?

Just a thought, but is your "power" switch on? On my '96, with the power switch on (located at the base of the t-case shifter), my tranny will kick down earlier to keep the engine in the power zone.

No, the power and 2nd swtches are off....

Check your E-brake. They can get stuck on. The bell crank stoppers should be in contact with the backing plate with the handle released.
