My wife and I got a set of Calphalon Anodized cookware set for Christmas and wondered what you guys thought about nonstick ware. I normally use stainless with copper bottoms or cast iron for cooking, but wondered what other people used and if this was going to give me cancer or something.

I like Allclad stainless for "stick" pans and Lodge cast iron for "non-stick". Even when using no metal tools, with constant use I have found all Teflon, super duper space age, etc, non-stick pans lose their coating. I finally grew tired of replacing them and deal with re-seasoning the Lodge pans when necessary.

Calphalon nonstick is not right...

Hard anodized is way better IMHO.

I prefer non sticks, I'm to lazy to scrub pans. I have a hard anodized set from Sam's Club. So far, I'm happy with them.:meh:

Are those aluminum? I stay away from aluminum.

Yes they are. After you posted I did a little research (5 min.) and apparently the Alzheimer's Association, FDA, and other organizations seem to think it is safe. What do I know? Nothing. What do they know? Hard to tell.

How long did it take for them to figure out tobacco isn't good for you?
I know Iron is good for you, so I like iron. I'm not sure about aluminum, so I don't cook with it if I can help it.

To much iron is bad for you too.:meh: Look hard enough and you will find someone who will say that just about everything will kill you. We can spend our lives worrying (which can also kill you) or we can spend our lives living.:bounce::bounce2:
