Good day all,

After being Cruiser-less for too long, I have decided that I want another FJ62. I have found one near me that is supposedly rust free and pretty clean. Price is right at $2400.

It has 238,000 miles on it and the owner states that it will sometimes not want to shift into overdrive until it is warmed up. Is this a sign of impending A440 doom? Or does it likely need a flush and filter?

I do not want to get into a potential tranny replacement/swap for a while and will steer clear if that is the case.

What sayeth the gurus?

Thanks,
Robert

I notteth a guru, but perhaps check the fluid level? Also, I have had really good results with Lucas Tranny Fix. Fixed a shifting problem in my F350, which sometimes missed shifts.

I've had mine 5 years and can tell you that in the first 5 minutes or so of operation, especially in colder weather, my auto is slower shifting into overdrive than it is when warmed up. During these five years I've changed the fluid twice, and the issue still exists. Sounds like the guy is being really straightforward with you, which is nice. Take it out for a test drive and see what you think.

my 91 with the same trans was that way and I had the BG fluid exchange by the dealer and it solved all my issues.

my trans fluid was almost black.
