Don't know if you guys have seen it or not, but I'm running a mad dash to finish the FJ45.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/233165-1966-fj45-lwb-rolling-blitz-restoration.html

It's quite possible that I will want to do a HAMOM to put the body back on the frame when it's all painted. I'm going to be very particular about not scratching it, and I'll need all the hands I can get to make sure it goes back on smoothly. It's on the dolly now and heading to the blaster in the morning....so 1-2 months to get it back. If the frame is ready and I have all the hardware, I think we could at least get the body back on the frame and the hood/fenders/bib/headache back in place.

If I remember right you are somewhat local to me (middle NC) so def glad to help! We have been moving dad's 46 Willys tub all over the place, hoping it will be going on soon too!!

Kinda sorta wish we had rebuilt an FJ instead but the Willys timing was good and very cool rig, lots of heritage and old memories for pop. (They used to service them at my grandfathers garage in KY in the 50s)

Cool. We'll keep you posted. I have a lot of work to do between now and then, so we'll see how it goes.

Just give me more than 30 min to get there and I'll be there. Up for helping you any time Barry!

If I'm lucky, the frame will be painted tonight, and at the latest this weekend. The replacement floor pan should be leaving panama tomorrow, so maybe the body shop will start at the end of next week. If that's the case, they told me at least a month to do the work. That puts us into October to set the body. Great weather, but a tough month for me because of anniversary and other trips. I'll give another update in about two weeks when I can see how the paint is progressing.

If all goes well, the body should be done this week. I have to pick up the doors, hood, bed, bib, tailgate, tunnel, etc. tomorrow afternoon. The tub, hard top, fenders, and grill should be done by Friday or Monday. I'm nowhere near ready to set the body, but I guess I don't have much choice. The body will be in the way, so it really will need to be put back on the frame. The frame is "ready", but the motor is not painted or back in. If I can get paint on it by next weekend, maybe we can HAMOM the clutch, set the motor, then set the major body parts. I have a good bit of work that could be done reassembing the doors and hard top if we got to that point, but I kind of doubt it. I could also put the harness back in, but that's about it. The rest of the parts simply are not painted yet.

So, this weekend is out, but the following weekend (the 27th) may work well for folks. That buys me a little more time to get parts, bolts, etc. and maybe get a coat of paint on the motor.

Okay, didn't realize that. Unfortunately, I may have to set the body that weekend anyway. I just don't have the space for it to be off frame without ticking off my wife or putting the 40 out to pasture. Old cars don't like to be out in the rain very long, so that's my rush.

I'm in Winston though....unless you were wanting to ride with someone from Raleigh.
There is a conflicting trail ride this weekend, but I'm still setting the body anyway. Got to free up space in the garage. There are two guys swinging by that couldn't make the trail ride out of town, so if anyone wants to come, we'll be in the garage. Hopeully it won't rain, but it's not a killer if it does since I think we can do it all inside.

Crap, I got shafted on flight duty this weekend, I was looking forward to getting a chance to ogle your 40 again. Gettin' the diesel itch again:frown:

Maybe we'll get a burn patient that we will have to fly to Winston-Salem cuz Duke is full.

I also have e-lockers in the works to go in that 70 rear axle I got from ya, will be a good winter project. Hijack over

Sorry I gotta bail mang

A few pics posted in the thread link at the top of this thread.
Thanks for the help guys! I'm tied up nearly every weekend for another month, so it was now or never. Good to have it done and looking like a truck again.

Let me know next time you are up. I'm about 2 minutes from the VA. I'm actually right smack between Forsyth, VA, and Baptist.
