Well, I have put a huge amount of time into getting this beast up to snuff.

My goal is to have a good, reliable and capable truck to use for work. I am most interested in useing the winch to move rocks and logs on my property. So just so you all know this is a working rig and not a show truck so I did indeed cut some corners and use some less expensive materials both to stay in a budget and for the sake of time savings.

When I purchased this 77' 40 about a year ago, it needed attention. Here are some of the things I did to get it buttoned up. And I do have some 33" mud tires going on there, these are for the road...

There was also a bit of work done by Spencer when I first picked it up. He welded up some braces for the front bumper, adjusted the lifters and replaced a lock core in one of the doors. That was about as much as I could afford to sub out so I got busy after that...

  • Hooked up the brakes, ran some lines and ironed out the issues with the 1/2 installed 4wheel disks.
  • Finished installing the 4" HFS lift, needed castor shims, shackles etc.
  • Tuned the motor, all new fluids filters etc.
  • All new seals/felts in doors and hardtop.
  • bedliner in the floors front & rear. New carpet and headliner.
  • Painted rollbar, seats f&r, basically all the little stuff.
  • Re alligned all of the frontmost body panels, rebolted., basically rebolted a ton of stuff.
  • New battery and ironed out problem with the alt and other electrical issues, voltage regulator and signals, horns wipers.
  • Dropped the hardtop at a votech school where they filled the big holes with metal. I then finished it off with bondo to make acceptible.
  • Installed new stereo and speakers.
  • painted exterior, roof, bumpers etc.
  • fixed issues with loose steering, (still non power), new tre's, aligned it with toe in adjustment.
Special thank you to Jason for the spare rim, and to Lane for the door catch for the rear. Also, Qball for the jack and handle. Appreciate the generosity and help!

Phase 2 will consist of changing out the manifold gasket, (2F). Then some fine tuning to get the motor purring. Right now it does run pretty good, with good compression on all 6. But there is a small vaccumm leak keeping it from being 100%.

Phase 3...Power steering. I have a ton of mini truck parts.

Looks great Sam and nice rig. What did you use for carpet?

"keep going" !

I used a CCOT front carpet, it was a 3pc thang. Plus a CCOT underlayment that has a reflective back. On the headliner I used an indoor/outdoor piece I got at a carpet place, special ordered and paid by the sq.ft. it was $42 total and drop shipped to my place. I spray adheasive installed the headliner.

What OZ weight is the headliner you installed? I have these on my list and would like to see some more pics of the interior and headliner. Thanks.

Intake/exhause manifold gasket done...What a bitch that was.

Also replaced all the vaccumm lines, new clutch master and slave.

After replacing the Exhaust/intake manifold gasket, I thought my vaccumm leak issues were whipped, but I was having trouble adjusting the carb for tip top performance.

So last evening, I pulled apart the carb and cleaned it all up as best I could, got it back together, fired it up and tried to adjust it. Then I figured out that I still have some vaccumm leaks for the intake!!!

I just posted on an existing thread in tech, original post by D'Animal about doubling up on maifold gaskets. Does anyone here have some experience with a double gasket? Is that the way to go? Here is the post from D'animal on the subject:

Any input is appreciated, Thanks all!
