We had 14 rigs participating and quite a few friends and spouses along for the fun.
Friday night was mostly setting up tents at Arrhowhead and getting some food...then some light socializing. It was a hot 88-99*F ride up there on Friday and did not cool off until a light shower of rain started with thunder around midnight. The crew for Friday night was LexTech and family, Dbenke and Lee, TTahara and girlfriend, GreenSeaMan, BMTHiker and Kat, Brock and Christine, BBQBoy and wife.
Saturday was refreshingly cool as we headed to the Outpost after breakfast and TTahara had to get a tire fixed with help of DBENKE to stop a slow leak. One valve stem later it was all good.
Arrived with some Toyotas already there.....I saw Drew and Jason from upstate in their 80s...and another guy I forget his name in a lifted 62 (ConcreteJungle) that was with them. There was also a guy that came up from Ft.Stewart ,Chrisngrod (Silver FJ with 4-5 Lightforce lights on rack

)and PitbullCruiser from the Ft Bragg area in their Blue FJ and I guy I think named Justin with his Sunfusion yellow FJ and mud loving Italian Mastiff. LOL
Later Maglight in his black FJ and Scott Johnson in his FJ40 rolled into parking area to join in the airing down and talking about rigs.
We got a late start waiting for arrivals that drove up Saturday morning but were headed out soon. Decided to split into two groups at trail head as Scott Johnson, Drew, Jason and other guy went to tackle Daniel and Kodak first thing...
The rest of us went to Rocky Mtn Loop to take a less difficult trail as we had some with open differentials. Well, to say the torrential rain experienced the past two weeks changed the trails and increased their difficulty was an under statement. LOL Very first uphill portion became an exercise in guessing who would make it up. Finally everyone was up and we continued on....enjoying the challenges that mother nature had in store on the trail. We had a couple instances of being slightly stuck where a trail rig needed a slight tug or winch to get up but for most part all was handled extremely well.
Then when nearly through it was time for lunch and to meet ProInv and OCDBeetle at the Outpost as they drove up later in morning. A sandwich and cold drink was sorely needed as the heat was sweltering on the trails and they were drying up quickly but still some deep spots of mud.
Headed out for afternoon and decided to do DickeyBell to Falls Dam to WolfDen....but got side tracked at end and went down DutchJohn as well.
All was going pretty good then at end of DutchJohn there is a very steep climb after a lot of rocks and offcambers. Realized it wsa not the same obstacle when four-wheel ATVs were in process of winching eachother up the hill climb.
After quite a wait it was time for our first person to head up....No Luck. ProInv could not get past final part that had some very large holes with loose rocks. He has 07 FJ Cruiser and when you activate the Rear Locker the A-Trac is deactivate...and no he has not done the hack. LOL Well he gave it a hell of a try with no luck. Then LexTech idled his white 80 with brand new KM2s right up it sounded like.....to put the pressure on. A couple more tried it such as BBQBoy in his FJ40 and KM2 tires...but no luck. So it was decided everyone would turn around and go back out because of the time as winching 14 vehicles up would take forever.
So a group of FJs decided to try it that had the A-Trac Hack...or were 2008 models and already had it done at factory. I was first and all buttons pushed.....put her in L and gave her steady throttle and let the FJ do her magic...some huge bounces as the ruts pushed me from side to side.....the 10 foot vertical side wall of clay and rock came up fast and pushed in my right side mirror but not sure if the ruts or my sliders kept me off the wall but either way I made it to the top without any trail rash to a throng of Jeep Cherokee trail rigs waiting to come down and LexTech making sure things were clear before the next attempt was made. All in all we got all the FJs up (Voodoo Blue from FtBragg, Titanium from FtSteward, Maglight from Beaufort and another 80 that was out on trail alone that tagged along.
Well we gathered ourselves up and headed out towards the parking area and hiway to go back to Outpost and some food and refreshments.
That evening we cleaned ourselves up and drank lots of water....and started congregating as everyone pitched in to prepare supper. ProInv and I brought a bunch of venison stew meat and sausages...while others brought carrots, potatoes, okra, tomatoes, etc...for the venison gumbo of all gumbos. Had over 20 people stop by, even those not originally staying with us took up the offer of food and fellowship and showed up to join us. We also had NCFJ from blue forum and his wife in their Titanium FJ show up later in night just before dinner looking for a guy named Brock. Hahaha...Hooked them up with the blue FJ couple and more friendships were made.
We all enjoyed the fine food and a fire for marshmellows while some took short breaks to shower at the bathhouse and get some sweat off of themselves.
Later we had a small raffle......with some free coupons for Tom Woods 4x4 Shafts given out after some number drawings....we also gave out some coozies from ACC in Atlanta and a brass GARGOYLE wall mount beer opener that can be put on garage wall or steel bumper of your rig for your next camping excursion which was won by BBQBoy. Then the WabFab slider adapter went to the woman (Melarnie?) in Voodoo Blue FJ as the grand prize.
We talked into late hours of night well after midnight before people slowly trickled away to their tents. A clear sky with a little breeze had rain flys coming down to let some cooling breeze into tents.
Sunday morning was a flurry of activity as LexTech was the first out the gate after they apparently got up when the roosters crowed at first light around 6:00am...LOL Slowly others packed up and some stayed to do some wheeling like NCFJ, BMTHiker and KAT and I believe the other Ti FJ and Voodoo FJ. I headed out around 8:00am for the trip home which was uneventful where a quick bite of lunch and drink were followed by a long nap. Unpacking waited until later that night.
I am looking forward to our next run......TBD.
Thank you everyone for participating....the Upstate Cruisers were represented in addition to the core of Lowcountry Land Cruisers as well as our out of town guests from NC and Georgia.
