Thanks for your comment.
It's a good-appearing cruiser, but it's grossly overpriced for what it is. Be sure to include shots of underneath the vehicle; it'll be needed.

Underneath shots are in the video.

Also, what do you care? Why do you have to go out of your way to crap on my listing? I can ask whatever I want for it. If it's overpriced, I'll find that out through the marketplace. Why do you feel like you need to chime in on the price? Were you an interested buyer?

Just imagine for a second that I sell it for near my asking price. Then your 80s will be worth more money, my dude. You're welcome.

I care because I'm interested in 80s, and buying them is something I do, sometimes whenever it strikes me. Do you think it's actually worth $38k? If so, what makes it worth that? Why is it so special to be priced so high? Is it the most sought-after year model LC? Is it TrIPLe LoCkED? Is it an anniversary edition?

What audience are you actually targeting to be marketing this 80 for $38K?

So, are you jumping on all the other listings with similar pricing and attacking them?

As an 80 owner, you should understand what makes my truck special and valuable. Read my ad and watch the walk-around video. Especially compared to the other rigs on the market, the value is here clear.

My advice is to take your troll act back to Facebook and leave the forum to folks who actually want to support each other. Don't hate, congratulate.

Now, now, no name-calling. Sarcasm is totally allowed. I may be a troll to you, but I'm a troll who calls bull**** when I see it. Your vehicle is clean and has some decent mods and some decent bolt-ons. The Slee front looks great. I think $38K is ridiculous. GLWS.

Really nice rig, have seen it in some of Overland Under Budget's videos. Excellent listing, tons of info, high quality images, and the video adds excellent detail. Dealing with an organized, knowledgeable seller that is willing to put in the effort you have on the listing is worth market value to me.

Good luck with sale!

Thank you kindly! I appreciate it

Love the truck. Currently looking to pick up an 80 with cash in hand but that engine bay does not support a $38,000 asking price. BAT price for fb marketplace preparation imo. Glws and hope to see a price drop 🤞🏻

If a dusty engine bay is a turn-off you should just visit your local Toyota dealer. I intentionally leave engine bays dirty; cleaned, greasy-shiny engine bays are 100% indicative of sellers hiding something. I’m not hiding anything. The rig’s maintenance history tells you all you need to know — far more than a shiny engine bay would. Good luck with shopping

I am seriously looking to buy an 80 right now and though yours looks like a great cruiser.. I have to agree that 38k is nuts! I about choked when I saw that on craigslist. There is a triple locked one in Everett Washington for 17k, and a beautiful triple locked one in san francisco for 30k. Just saying.

I’m open to offers. But you can go buy one for $17k and sink the $40k into it that it needs in maintenance. Or you could buy mine which is 100% sorted.

Also triple locked isn’t the sales feature people think it is. Ask any LC shop and they’ll tell you the factory lockers are junk.

From reading your ad and watching your videos it sounds like you paid for most of the work to be done?

That explains the price :/ Labor is a hard thing to get reimbursed on

My 2 cents on this and the listing in general. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, just some honest feedback.

- I get what you are saying about not hiding anything with a dirty engine bay but at the same time you are reaching for the stars on the price. A action photo or two showing a dirty engine bay is one thing, but for a sales listing it should be spotless. In addition all of the wiring should be tidy, covered and protected with loom, it should look absolutely top notch at this asking price.

- The comment about the next owner digging through the binder of receipts isn't helpful. Since you have a google drive setup it's easy enough to take a photo of each receipt and add a spreadsheet of dates that work was done. On a $5k trail beater perhaps this approach will work, but not for the "second nicest FJ80 in Oregon".

- Accessories and modifications are cool but don't plan to get your money back on those, especially now that the 80 series market has softened up.

- Think about the audience. On bring a trailer or some other widespread platform there's a lot of people with a lot of disposable money who might get psyched up for a cool old 4x4 and not really know what they are looking at. In those cases you might be able to get away with a high asking price. On the mud forum it's a bunch of cruiser dorks who geek out on these things and will know more about them than you do. There's people on here that are original owners with 30 years of ownership experience, that know every nut and bolt by memory.

- Now the bad news - you won't recover the amount you've spent in parts alone on this cruiser, let alone the labor. If you can prove me wrong all the more power to you.

Good luck with the sale and enjoy the new rig. Worst case just keep the 80 since its setup exactly how you want and people always regret selling their 80 series!
