Well, I was waiting on Alvin to begin this thread, since he initiated our participation, but he's on dial up and I want to post some pix. We showed up Thursday evening and met part of the crew, registered, and headed to town for dinner. The fun began Friday, when we took a moderate - spelled E-A-S-Y - but scenic run. Then Saturday was the fun run. We took the intermediate - spelled - R-O-C-K-Y C-R-E-E-K-B-E-D up the mountain. Even got to watch a Trail Team FJ Tip to arest on the starboard side. Lets get to the pix; 1st is lunch on the mountain side Friday - check out the nice 45 I parked next to; next is what had to pass for fall colors - an oak grove among the pinon; and the 3rd pic is early Saturday - it's Alvin getting ready to shear off both starboard valve stems.
(Lame excuse 1 - I have more pix but need to resize and am having trouble with some)
First here is the yellow FJC coming up the trail - how I got in front of myself is beyond me, and second is Alvin grinning about learining how to replace 2 valve stems on the trail (hoping he doesn't have to do it again)..
Later in the day we came down the sandy side of the mountain and got to cross a wash with a fun little shelf. Since it was optional, everyone went thru - this is me, notice how I had to lean to see thru the FJC's skinny windshield going down...
Same shelf, different spotter, and a stuck 62...the guy in the black jacket rode in the 80 in front of me and kept trying to high center and stick peole, he suceeded. He also assisted in digging some ruts in front of me to make obstacles more interesting..
This was a basically stock BJ74, right hand drive, from Alberta that went with us on the same obstacle. Cool little truck and a neat couple. Enjoyed helping them through some of the obstacles that day - got to practice MY spotting skills - and they didn't blame me for some minor carnage...
My internet time at work has been squashed completely. The MAN has been monitoring and I have been warned. 95% of the time I spent on MUD was from work, so I'm gonna be real scarce around here from now on. Sorry.
after the discovery of IRFanView (thanks WhippWheels) - a few more pix:
loved this blm road sign; karen's learning to drive the cruiser on the trails; the last pic is when Alvin sheared the valve stems - note the guys in the red and white shirts looking down saying"dude - whats that sound?"
