I went to WV yesterday for a little FS road trip and noticed that my trans was slow to respond in 1st. I give it gas and there is a delay in shifting and then a clunk sound. I'm thinking worn out U joints. Any ideas?

Were you in Lo range when this happened? My 2000 has always done that (at least if you're talking the lo-range 1st to 2nd shift - high RPM's then hard shift into 2nd). Normal I think for 1st gear low. At least normal for me, and 215K on the ticker...
