I just made the swap to an H41 and built an Orion for lower gears, so I'm offering up the original H42 4-speed. $400 OBO — Local pickup only.
First year of the 4-speed. 16-spline output for the one-piece TC. Not sure of mileage, but probably around 125K miles on it. Been in a barn for 20+ years when I bought it in 2017. Shifts well for a 50-year old truck. 1-2 hangs up every once in a while when cold, but no problem when warmed up after a block or two. I never would have replaced it were I not looking for better gearing for the Rubicon. Output shaft splines are straight and smooth. The bright section on the splines is barely noticeable even to a fingernail. No chips or bent-over splines. Input shaft looks great, and the pilot bearing end is smooth and clean. I can send video of it shifting in the truck from right before it was pulled at the end of March.
Top plate included, but no shifter handle.
