What do you think about polishing the 2F intake manifold ports?

Good idea or lame, tell me why.

Try it and tell us how you like it. IIRC it is a relatively inexpensive operation.

Really, I don't think it will gain you much of anything. A lot of folks have had success harnessing power by milling the head to increase compression. Also a header will get you farther than a port and polish.

dont matter what motor, port and polish will gain horsepower. In a 2f , most of the air disturbance is in the intake with the unequal runner lengths and tight corners. I removed most of the intake seperations between 5 and6, and 1 and 2. opened up the "corner" going into 3 and 4. hard to explain but if you look at the intake you will understand. the head and intake have lots of porting room. I added a header and a weber and holy crap. what a difference. Then I fuel injected it and you would never guess its a 2f. Without fuel injection, the best power mods are a 270ish cam. header and a weber. If you have the time p and p will help.

If you want more air flow your better off putting larger valves in, I had my 3F-E ported polished with larger valves and increased the air flow from 250cfm to 350cfm. A 2F head would return the same kind of results.

Flow rates and graphs can be found on the 2F-ETI link below from my port and polish and valves swap.

What increases this would give a 2F I can't say though power wise.

Should you just port the head & intake manifold before getting them Extrude Honed together?

I've read about some mythical Edelbrock or other American go-faster intake manifold. Worth tracking down?

It was a 4 barrel offy intake. Not too hard to find.

You will get more improvement with a header than a port and polish.

Bigger cam, header, exhaust, mill the head. That will get you preformance gains in a 2F. The P&P will not help the low end, at all. If you turn 4 or 5K you will see a gain.

I was going to upgrade to stainless steel chevy valves in my 2F head but the operation turned out to be way more expensive. They are very close in size to stock Toyota valves.
