Popping Door Hinge Area - Driver's Door

I am getting a popping noise when opening and closing the drivers door on my '13 LX570. Generally, it occurs on both open and close but ONLY during the sweep when moving through the detents. The door catch bolt (fastened to the A pillar) is tight. It's difficult to tell if the noise is from inside the door or the A pillar. Anyone had a similar issue?

Yep I have it as well, not all the time though.

Also check the 2 nuts or bolts that hold the limiter(catch) to the door

Have oiled previously, no change in behavior. I'll clean and oil again as it hasn't been done recently.

I have not checked this but will do so.

Replace your door check (i.e., limit strap). Mine went bad and exhibited the exact same symptoms as yours. Not a difficult job if you're somewhat handy. Remove door panel, remove speaker, secure door so it won't swing too far, remove door check, then reverse steps. Grease won't help, it's broken internally.

Which portion of the door limit strap breaks? The door doesn't move past the limit so far as I can tell, but something is clearly making the noise.

In your photo, the broken part would be inside that little box on the right. It's not so much the strap itself that breaks, but the mechanism that holds tension on the strap.

Ordered parts to resolve this and went with new front door seals as well. Ended up scoring massively by combining the black friday sale with Lewis Toyota of Topeka's usual discounts. For reference the door limit strap part numbers are below.
