I'm trying to diagnose either a bad oil pressure guage or actual poor oil pressure? I bought a 60 a month or so ago and it fires up fine and runs semi-OK, I think it needs some valve adjustment, but I know it's getting oil because it will run a while no problem, you can drive it around and it hasn't frozen up.

When you start it the oil presure guage will move up to the very bottom of the lowest line, then back off. I assume it's the guage, but is there such a thing as a 2F having poor oil pressure, just not getting enough up into the motor?

It's probably the sensor going bad-an easy fix. You might measure the pressure while running with a test guage so you know for sure that your pressure is OK. Once you know that, trouble-shoot the sensor and guage to figure where the problem is. I'll bet $1 it's the sender.

Yeah Ill bet the sender. Its the same unit as used on a variety of Toyota petrol and diesels. An older Camry or Corrola.

Low oil pressure can be caused by worn main bearings. The symptoms for this is usually very high oil pressure when cold dropping away to nothing when warmed.

I found with my old 3F that when the pressure dropped off it was also due for an oil change
