Since I already have the hauler with me I was considering setting up something like this. It's there, I thinking I might as well utlize the flat deck instead of parking it next to the campground.

Has anyone on Mud done anything like this.? It seems like every time I take the family camping/wheeling it ends up raining. What are your thoughts? Personally I'm fine in a tent or the back of the truck but with the family, the game changes.

Great ides, I would raise the tongue so the water runs away from the tent and use cots.
I had considered that. I do have a 1/4 gap between my boards, I was trying to figure out a something for the floor like a couple stall mats. http://tsc.tractorsupply.com/nav/cat3/equine_horsestallsaccessories_rubbermatting/0Sometimes you can pick them up for $20.00 on sale. I'd also like to make it secure to the frame, something similar to a 40 series canvas with a buckle system to tighen it up. In lieu of putting tie down anchors to the ground. I'd like to utilize the stake pockets for the frame supports with some cross members for rigidity. Either in aluminium or wood with steel bolt together caps. We do have a canvas boat cover manufacturer who can sew this thing up for me after I get the frame put together. Beta Test run No 1 will probably be made with tarps and relocated grommits.

Thinking outside the box, I like it.

You could even add a piece of sheet metal over part of the decking for a stove.

I was contemplating doing the exact same thing with my 33' Goose with the cabover on it.

My wife told me I was nuts..

Looks great if you ask me. A trick I use in backpacking is laying a 3mm tarp down inside the tent and cut it about 8" long in each direction so it forms a nice "bathtub" effect... never had a drop of water on my gear even in the heaviest downpours.
