I have heard that polyuretane paint is the best choice for a cruiser, not being familiar with the subject, i have to ask, what do you think?
I´m the proud owner of a '81 FJ40 for over 12 years and it´s time for the first paint job, the original color is freeborn red, is this kind of paint and/or color hard to get from Dupont or any other quality brand? What about application procedures?
Does it applies like a regular paint? I´m not planning on doing the job myself, but don´t want to buy a product that will get me and the body shop in trouble

cheers

Excelent coating for abrasion, durability, and impact resistance. (used on aircraft if that gives any indication). It's mixed like an epoxy: paint and an activator (hardener).

Drawbacks: expensive and contains isocyanides.

Also just my opinion, don't let them talk you into a clearcoat final finish, they go to crap if you do any brush busting.

Roughed up with a DA sander, excellent. We've used it on a couple of our kenworths (fiberglass hoods) and almost elimated the rock chipping.

Thanks for the advice.:D

:ban: BTW, never been a fan of clear coat, or fancy paint jobs on a trail rig.

Good to know...my rig's going to need a paint job.

I have used it several time and I like it, trail rash rubs out easily, use a coupla of more coats than the painter recommends, Larry
