At the January Meeting, those present chose Saturday, Feb 22nd as the date for the next PMC Mud and Snow run to Lake Pillsbury and Hull Mtn. Meet at the airstrip at 10 AM. Be prepared for cold conditions. We will go as far as the weather and conditions allow.

Breakfast at 7 AM... Stan's Maple Cafe 295 S. State St, Ukiah, CA 95482 707-462-5221
(take the E. Perkins off ramp if heading North, over the freeway to N. State St, left, two blocks on Left. )
Depart from there 8:30 ish, head to airstrip on Lake Pillsbury.

Run Leader Adam R. or alternative if his truck is not running and he cannot use the wife's Tacoma.

Also final time to pay your 2025 Dues in person. Otherwise Mail in before 3/1/25.

More details to follow I am sure... but mark your calendar now.

Hope to see you then!

Great! nice appropriate angle after moving the leading mount 2" forward.

Santa Rosa Driveline shortened both the primary and the spare shaft within a couple days and boom! Done.

However, it's the Tacoma for the Mud and Snow run...

I hear you're buying breakfast?

No comment. You think Dreamin will have those axles under his junk for Rubithon ? I have never been on trail with Dreamin, have had alot of plans but someone has gone home sick, broke, broke, etc....... Just once before its all a memory I'd like to enjoy the trail with Michael outside of official business.

that sounds like a club rubithon thread topic... Dreamin of course... and ya, I think he will.

However, making it into the Springs??? I have a slight concern some other issue might raise its ugly head. (next weak link stuff)

On the Mud and Snow Run, the questions are:

Snow or no snow?
Lots of snow or light snow?
Mud with some snow?
Mud with more mud?
No mud or snow?
Do breakfast or head straight to Lake?
Lake county side or Sonoma County side?
Will Gatton leave us again?
Will Woooody overnite solo again?
Will Tan69 make an appearance?
Will Big D bring lunch again?
Will there be 8 active members?

and the most important question(s) of all...

Will Pees finally make good on his promise to buy breakfast? or will he even show up?

Ok, that was actually 2 questions in one but they impact each other.

Is this an overnight thing, or just screw around during the day? I have no idea what the actual track is... but I'm game.

Let me clarify - if one doesn't get stuck or broken down, is this an overnight thing? :)

This is a day trip... breakfast in Ukiah early, 7 AM or head directly to Lake Pillsbury and the airstrip by 10 AM. (via Potter Valley for us)

You can overnite as there is a primitive campground right there but prepare for cold and possible inclement weather.

Last two years have been primarily driving till snow stops us, have lunch and depart. If trails are open, can be a full day.

Hope you can make it, I realize it is quite a trek for you.

Occasionally a club member will head down a trail solo, without notice to others, then get stuck and send out a SOS, then we go get them, it happens.

Big Jim contacted me, snow level was high but with the recent precip and low temps, I suspect the snow level has dropped. He noted there is also a significant slump in M1 which is active.

I asked him to post up the info but do not see it so you get my version...

Always an adventure for us!

I plan to come. Will meet up at the airstrip before 10 am. Bringing my 3rd gen 4runner. In case I’m late, what HAM station will y’all be on?

@pistolrvr , I’m also coming from Novato if you want to caravan. I’ll be stopping somewhere on the drive up for a quick bite to eat.

Hopefully this storm is dropping some good snow!

Does anyone know if the road in is good for trailering in ? I hate it when its a, slip n slide, jack knife, snowball mess.

Big Jim called this afternoon to say that the road has slipped out completely and is officially closed. Doubtful that the lower powder house trail would remain open but possible. That bypasses the slide. San Hedron lookout might be the next highest peak out of the valley floor to find snow.

You know that San Hedron could be a mess ? Any reports on the conditions of the main road in from potter valley after you go up the big hill and cross the bridge, turn right that road that goes past a couple houses , is that road all slip & slide ? If so trailering in can be an adventure.

John, just drop the trailer at the turn right after the bridge, big pull out there, then it does not matter if it is slippery, you will be in the correct vehicle for any condition the road is in.

This is the latest from Mendocino forest site.

That is part of the adventure 👅

Just got back from the FS station. Yes the road is closed, I missed the engineer by a couple minutes but read his report. Same as reported online, M1 is slipped out and closed. Law enforcement is the only ones up there as the fire crew hasn’t got that far north yet. Lower powder house trail probably bypasses the slippage. The off-road trails just got closed today depending on how long the rain lasts.
John, drop the trailer at the bridge. Fireman told me “just past the last cabin on the right , (top of the glades), he got squirley in his pickup truck” I know the place and so do you😉
How much adventure do you really want ? Plenty of places to go if we all stay together lol, 😉
Snow, mud or deep water haha. That would be a new story haha.

Yes I knoiw that little section, its only 50 yards or so but it takes all the run off across the road and once the crust is broken it turns into slippy ruts.
