If you are interested in the Lost Coast Run, plans at this time are to meet at Usal Beach Friday evening or Saturday morning (Aug 28/29). For more information on the area, Google "Sinkyone Wilderness State Park".
Possible day-run on Saturday up to Shelter Cove, and back to Usal, via Usal Road. Details to be finalized at our next PMC club meeting. Be there or be square Aug 20, 7pm, Marlow Road Round Table Pizza, Santa Rosa. Meeting starts at 7pm, but come before (6pm or so) and grab a bite to eat and catch up with other members.

Yes Andy, this road is fine for stock vehicles. A full size truck can handle the wilderness road. The road into Usal beach from Hwy 1 is probably the narrowest of the whole trip. I'm thinking about taking our new (old) camper in Friday night and staying at Usal two nights. Anyone that wants to drive up to bear harbor (North end of Sinkyone wilderness) for lunch or Saturday night camp is welcome to do so. Probably a couple hour trip each way. I might tag along for a picnic but not with a camper... We'll finalize things at the meeting next month.

Looks like Roger and I will be going, plan to leave Sonoma county on Friday morning.taking 101 north to Leggett, then west on Hwy 1 (17 miles) to the Usual Rd turn off (mm 90.88) see you there.

Looks like we will have a good group attending the Lost Coast camp out. We are shooting for a 2 pm departure on Friday afternoon from Upper Lake if anyone is coming from or through Lake County. We'll be meeting at the Chevron station at the Highway 20/29 junction. Terry is planning on going up earlier in the day to try to claim the camp spot. We're hoping to stay in the redwood grove on the right after you cross the little bridge over Usal creek. Be prepared with water, shovel and or wag bags as this is primitive camping. There are outhouses but we're not sure of their condition. Fires are usually allowed along the coast with a fire permit.
Plans are to camp and relax on Saturday however folks are welcome to drive the road from the beach north to Shelter cove. We may take a short drive north and then hike an old road through the wilderness down to a lost beach at the ocean.
The turnoff to Usal off of Hwy 1 can be difficult to find. There are no signs except for the word Usal painted in the highway. If coming from Leggett and you come to the ocean turn around , you've gone too far. The Usal road turns off to the north less than a mile from the coast right after you get out of the redwoods.
Any questions can be answered here or give me a call at two seven four- two two one four.

Don, as I mention you at our last meeting. I will be there at the highway 20/29 junction, any body knows about bringing dogs? I have three little well behaved chihuahuas. Here is my phone number if anyone want to call me 797 477-3332.
Thank you all.

Dogs must be on leash or confined in vehicle or tent etc. Please bring some firewood if you can as collecting wood in park is not allowed.
