While cleaning and prepping my throttle body I accidentally scraped off what I think was a cork plug intended to close off a port in the manifold. I believe it was the size of the round spot in the picture below. I plan on replacing it with a new dot cut out of gasket material, probably 1/8" thick or so, with a gasket adhesive holding it in place.

Does that sound reasonable? Are there other requirements for this plug?

Thanks,

T.

Yep if we referring to same spot I imagine that was carbon gunk buildup.

That channel was my EGR blockage.

It looks like that top port is intended to be blocked. The gasket has a hole, the manifold has a top port, but it faces into that dirty spot with no where to go.

I found this photo which looks like someone's before image. I wish I'd looked more closely before I scraped mine off, but it looks like nothing but carbon and sludge. I was convinced I scraped off gasket material or something... Thanks for fixing me.
