Glad you made it home.

We have a spare car--

but it is in Gilmer. I don't think the 40 would be a very good canidate for Dallas traffic, though.

oh yeah, and the rotten luck thing? you haven't known me long. this is actually pretty good luck for me. just ask anybody.

You are the one with a cut up tire from Jeep eater, right? Correct me if I am wrong, but you and my husband both had some crazy luck this weekend. He crunches his hood, tears his soft top, and I am sure there are other things he didn't tell me about.

How did the young 'un like his book? He sure is a cutie--the scary thing is that those two young men are the future of our club. It will be a smash up derby for sure!!!!!

yep, that's me. and even with that for me, that's pretty good lock. last time, i cut two tires, had to borrow one to get home. truth is, i'm just about the only guy that can wheel all weekend, then break driving down the street two days later. at least(fingers crossed) it should hopefully be as easy as swapping the third member out, and getting the driveshaft fixed, if needed.
and my son already calls longboard"my fruck" about half as often as he calls it daddy's fruck.
and we've gotta get him to pronounce that right, or somebody is gonna hear it wrong and start some static!!!

well, the third member has been replaced, and it's not good. whining, and when you let off the gas, then accelerate again, it hits hard. in reverse, it sort of stuttered, i guess. any way, thanks to jason harsch, i was able to get this far, but now i'm lost. any ideas why this isn't working right? and what's it gonna take to make it right?

if the gears are new there set up wrong ... if there used there going out

alright, so if that's the case, what do i need to do? buy new from toyota? try other used sets? suggestions. i guess buying new is the best option, but then how do you set up the new gears?
and if i get new, should i get new spiders and sides? info appreciated.

You might see if Ed (rocktaxi) is willing to take a look at them and/or set them up. He lives on your side of town. Send him an email.

The third member should be fine. I'd look into getting a new lockright or something to replace those worn spiders.

posted in rear diff issues thread...
pinion nut was loose. found it yesterday morning. now to figure out why the brakes are soft, and fading.

I wonder why it keeps coming loose. Make sure that nut is staked down good. You don't want a repeat of this.

yeah, i've got to get a stake washer, or a pin from toyota, as this one doesn't have anything like that to stop it from coming loose. we put some rtv on it, to help, until i can get the correct part, and do it right. under the gun, gotta get it driveable, at least for a couple of days.
and since i KNOW this is an issue this time, i can check it every couple of days, and keep it snug, if it loosens up. calling toyota now to get the right part to put in there to keep it from backing off.
and oh yeah, don't wonder why it keeps coming loose. just look at who has it, and that should answer your question!!!

Justin, it's got a stake nut on it. Take the driveshaft back off and look at the nut again. There's a notch in the end of the pinion and you take a chisel and punch the edge of the nut to go into the notch.

okay.got it. i was looking for something like a fold tab washer, or like the key that goes on some pulleys. i'll get that done a.s.a.p.
thanks,

Glad things are looking better for you!
