I've been looking at a new bumper for some time now. I initially wanted a tube one, but have grown to like the plate ones now. I've weaseled a week of OT at 3 for 1 time. So I'll have a nice check to pick up a few things and pay off a few things. I was gonna order an EliteOffroad bumper but he's not making any right now. Maybe shut down for the holidays, dunno. Then there's the Relentless bumpers. And semi local to me is HammerHead.

I really like the EliteOffroad and may just wait for one, I don't really like how the Relentless exposes so much to gain clearance, and the HH isn't much for eye candy as the other two.

Are there any other reasonable $1000ish bumper makers I've missed? I'll be putting a 12k HF Badlands in it as well.

I am not sure what you are wanting to attach it to so not sure if the following will be relevant, but I am a plate man thru and thru. I have a Shrockworks sitting in my garage to go on my 3rd Gen 4Runner. I am hoping to try again next weekend to shoehorn it on. They are great quality units, but they are on their own schedule down there in Texas. I think I was about 4-6 months waiting, but it is a nice unit and I got in on a group buy over on T4R and got 15% off list so it came in right around your target number.

Edit: I have since googled Elite and I see that you are probably putting it on a Tacoma of some vintage. They look like a nice unit and I will tell you this, if that is what you like, then it will be worth the wait. I looked at several others and kept coming back to the Shrockworks for my 4Runner and I am glad I went that way. When you are dropping that much $$ in one place, you may as well get exactly what you want. They look similar to the SW and I am pretty sure they offer them for the 96-04 tacomas, not sure about the 05+, but again, I will warn that it will take several months to get it.

i like the badland bumpers.......badlandbumpers.com..

i have tube bumper from addicted offroad. I love it...

I like the Relentless bumpers, but I love the Elite bumpers more. The Relentless has too much exposed/visible around the sides to gain clearance. The Elite is for me. I'll wait a few more months if need be. The Badlands looked good until I zoomed in. The welds weren't pretty at all.

Tim from Elite emailed me back saying he's not taking new orders until he gets moved into his new shop. May be two months or more out and then maybe longer to get settled in and fabbing bumpers again. So I've considered a tube bumper again and discovered Addicted Offroad does a plate/tube hybrid now that's quite interesting.

The plate bumpers that Scotty is making at Addicted are really sweet. I've got one of his tube bumpers on my '96 Taco, but I might switch up, they're that slick!

Not sure what rear bumper you have but possibly interested if you decide to upgrade. My rear is trashed.

EliteOffroad is back to business again. Ordered a front bumper last night and am looking at a three month or so turnaround. Can't wait to put it on in the deep south summer heat.

any reason not to consider ARB?

Not at all. They have been around for years and for a number of Toyota platforms they have been the only player for years. I think the intent of this was more to see what else is on the market these days.

I personally don't like how they look. They have an old school look to me and look good on LCs and overland rigs. The only reason I went with the Elite bumper is because it appeals to me visually. It doesn't look like it was built in a HS shop class or was some project for a welder's doctorate with a thousand varying angles. The main reason is it covers more of the guts underneath; suspension and mainly the frame ends. For some reason exposed frame end bolts are terrible.
