Here is a picture is the issue in my 99. When I slide the drivers seat all the way forward I can get this black plastic piece back into place, or I think I can. But as the seat is moved back on the track the plastic piece slides back too? How does this seat track work? Should I take it apart? Should I break off this plastic piece? My guess is it is not in place up front, and that is where it is catching.

Any ideas of what to do?

Thanks for any ideas.

I will try the 2x4. What happens if it doesn't snap back into place? Will it ruin something? Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

If it does not snap back into place, you didn't ruin anything that wasn't already broken. Pay attention to how the pieces fit together on the non-broken side when the seat is all the way forward. I would think fabbing a crimp or drilling the end for a screw might hold everything together. I imagine that this would be a costly repair as it probably entails purchasing the entire seat track assembly. I had this issue on a past LC and the 2x4 thing (along with a large flathead screwdriver) worked for me after I reset it and bent the crimped part of the rail-to-bracket assembly back into place.

Same thing on my passenger seat, clean it as good as possible. I used compressed air and white lithium grease afterwards. Move seat full forward while applying pressure so trim will follow seat. Then move seat rearward while holding trim firm in place. May take a couple trips to get it back into place. Crimp end or screw but be sure slides will not bind on what you secure it with. Two drops of Gorilla glue have been holding mine for the past six months and I have an 11 yr old that moves the seat just cause he can, or until I make him stop.
