I have been eyeing those for a while. Keep us posted on how it works and maybe revive the thread 3 or 6 months from now to let us know how it has been holding up and what your thoughts on the consumables are.

Have fun!

My parker 40 has cut a TON of metal already.. Including a couple perfect cuts through 1/2" steel..

I have had it since xmas. awesome machine..

Hope it works out for you as there are few who have had positive experiences with the father/son combo. Check out weldingweb. They still havent figured out thier systems. Scares me that they are knock offs of knock offs, but if it works for you then great!

I have had mine a little over a month and have cut sheet metal, rivets and plate metal with no problems at all. Make sure you have good conductivity and air pressure.

Funny, I have heard nothing but good experiences from them.

You got a link to the unhappy people??

My buddy bought the combo plasma, tig and stick unit. We have been playing with the plasma and it works great. I replaced a bent trailer axle and wanted to keep the hubs and spindles. THis unit made quick work of the tube axle housing, where I cut right after the perches. Great unit for the price.

I was really tempted to get the combo and teach myself how to TIG but they didnt have any in stock. Looks like these things can cut non conductive material too...

How are these things on consumables (tips, etc.)? Some of these things can get pretty expensive.

From Parker, they are very reasonable.

How are the torches on the Parkers? They look kind of cheap and breakable in the pictures on their website. I haven't seen one in person though. Any idea on the replacement cost for the torch? Thanks.

Torches are torches.. If it fails, replace it with whichever torch you want..

waiting for the negativity..

Hmmm, Apache Junction eh, not too far away....

That price beats the hell out of the Miller I just borrowed.

I have ThermaDyne's Cutmaster 38 and find it near useless on steel over 1/8" thick or about 20 gauge aluminum so despite it's good name it turned out to be a bad experiment. I use too much filtering I guess or it's bad air up here, or something. Wish I'd have had the nerve to experiment with one of those instead; it would have saved me about $800.
Who knows, maybe it would have surprised me.

Anyone want to buy a name brand plasma cutter so I can get a crappy Chinese one that'll do the job?

remember you need the plug (they typically do not come with power plugs due to the wide variety available.)

yep, just got here! Wooohooo! Looks like nice quality unit. Off to the hardware store for a plug!

I want to buy the combo but don't see it on their site. Hows the tig?
