Places to Stay Near Durango / Colorado Springs

Howdy! Family and I are flying to Salt Lake City and then driving home my "almost mine," new to me 2004, almost already expedition-ready, 2004 4Runner this weekend.

Since we are flying we won't have camping gear and I wondered if anyone had suggestions on good places to stay in or near Durango CO or Colorado Springs.

We typically go for Marriott for points, but I bet there are tons of cool local places?

I think we are staying at the Gonzo Inn the night before in Moab - not finalized yet, either.

Hmm, the hot springs near florence are pretty cool if you like a simplistic stay with a good view of the lightening storms. #desert reef hot springs

with no camping equipment its hard to say around co springs. theres some b&b's around here but nothing fancy. go to manitou for some ghost type ones.

we might try to make it to Ouray or Pagosa Springs and just pass through Durango.

I'd recommend the Grand Imperial in Silverton...one of the few remaining places in the state that was originally opened as a hotel in the 1880's and still is one. Plus...that area is spectacular and you will most definitely want to come back. Not too sure where to stay in the Springs...agree that Manitou Springs may be the better place...neat town for sure.
