A similar thread was posted on the main board but I wanted to ask a similar question specifically in Arizona.

I've noticed in the deep nasty summer heat the truck has a tendancy to ping a bit. (more pinging recently, found that the tstat is bad, now on order) I usually stop it by going up to 89 octane.

Is it simply the heat? Is it the additives AZ puts in during the summer?

Does anyone else notice this or is it simply my ol' 3FE and associated insanity?

Imo, it's the additives, I have the same issue with my company truck, after 3 years, I run 89 in the summer and 87 in the winter. To bad they there isn't a fuel blend specific for our climate.:meh:

There was a huge thread thinking this may be the cause for the pressure problem in the 80 series...Did that ever get figured out?

I think that may be the problem, it's a blend FOR this area. Area of high pollution.

Esp with the S/C, mine gets 89 or 91 in the summer.

I say yes on all 3 counts.

It's amazing what passes for fuel in this town these days. :meh:
