Hi,

My early diesel LC100 (1999) has the silly function that automatically engages the center diff lock upon selecting low range. I'd like to do the 'pin 7' mod to disable this. However all the references I can find are for the automatic transmission ECU. Mine is a manual transmission, and thus has slightly different ECU (see attached image). Does anyone know if it's the same pin '7' on this ECU ?

thanks

/Pete

You don't modify anything on the engine ECU to do the pin7 mod. The pin 7 mod is performed at the "center diff lock relay" aka "Transmission control relay"

If you can find that relay box I would guess it is the same. It is interlocking the t-case and the CDL control so they probably use the same relay box but that is just my guess. On a US 100 it behind the engine ECU, on an 80 it was in the left kick I think, should just be a matter of hunting it down.

If you think you've found it I would recommend removing the pin socket from the connector rather than cutting the wire, that way if you're on the wrong wire it will be easy to put back as it was.

good luck.

Hi Pete, my manual petrol 2000 had the transmission control relay next to the engine ECU on the left hand side (however I'm an Aussie and car steering layout is opposite yours), so yours will be on the right hand side about the same height as the ECU you photographed... Will say transmission control on the box. Take it slow and you'll be right!
