just got the latest issues of off road, 4wd&su, and four wheel and off road...all three had full page hard card inserts on the fjcruiser

Interesting, I read that Toyota was going to do zero advertising of the FJ Cruiser so they would not confuse the "green" image they portray in the US. I suspect that 4x4 mags will be the *only* place they advertise other than perhaps Maxim or another rag aimed at 20something males.

They are going straight to the heart of their target audience with quotes like, "The sound of metal grinding over rock is the sound of a ladder frame hard at work". It is motivating.

Toyota knows who is going to buy this and is not playing around with the advertising.

If they know whos buyin it, why don't they just make it HARDCORE, eg. Solid Axles, etc.

latest issue of people and parts mountain edition states "The automaker said it already has more than 40,000 interested buyers for the unit, with the vast majority of those being off-road enthusiasts."

guess they know their market now....

Probably because they're going for the "one size fits all" market. A little bit of something to make everybody happy . . . . both off-roaders and soccer moms alike. Pretty clever marketing if you ask me.
