Pilot Bearing Removal and Hotdog Buns

Back to actively working on the 40 and one of this morning's tasks was to remove the pilot bearing to get ready and install new transmission, etc.

Had read a thread on MUD a while back about how much of a pain this can be...and one crazy (but not so crazy) way to remove it.

Simple take some bread (in my case a Merita hotdog bun) tear into smaller pieces, stuff bread into hole until cavity is full, use a home-made tool and hammer to compress the bread. The bearing just pops right out. No grease or expensive tool needed and you can snack on the leftover bread!!

I tried that and grease on the 55 clutch change and it did not work so hot

I have had both good and bad luck using stuff like that so i have a puller now.
