Pig run update

Not quite sure who all is gonna show for the pig run, but those who do show will be able to enjoy some fine weather. Forecast is for temps in the low 80's both days with cool evenings and nights. Can't ask for much more than that. Will see you all either tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll have donuts Friday morning to be sure!!!! Gary

trail time Saturday

I personally try to get on the trail by about 8:30- doesn't always work out, though. Usually we do get out by 9 or a little later that is especially true with a smaller group (compared to, say the coal mine event). Look for my tan topless 40 and Bill Smith's mustard topless 40. Gary

Saturday

Looking forward to seeing the goat pig again!!!!! I'm off to Rausch in an hour or so should be a good day. Gary

Thanks for putting that together, Gary! The weather arrangements you made were outstanding.

Great to see everyone, again.

Great Pig Run! Thanks for putting it together Gary.
Great to hang out with the VA crew as well. Good cooks and pyromaniacs as well.
Thanks for spotting Steve!
It was also great seeing a Goat Pig run up a mud hill. First try too!

PS - I got kicked out of the car wash when I got home. I guess they only want clean vehicles to go there. lol

THANKS GARY! for organizing the event and trail leading both days. It was an an excellent weekend.

I hope to see everyone at the BBRC Fall Crawl!

Charlton

Pig run

I'll have to agree that the pig run this past weekend went very well. Weather was about perfect- good days and good nights for those camping. Rausch wasn't particularly crowded, just the normal weekend swarm of jeepers and this time, a group of Rovers. No traffic anywhere in the park either day- that's a good thing.

On Friday we had five capable vehicles in the handseasoned drivers- consequently we covered a lot of ground. We did CV trail, O, all of the hill climbs off CV, then headed down into the west property and did 12, 14, 11, 10, and then up around 15. Back through the park on B then attacked the hill climb (forget the name of it) off B. All went well, everybody was pretty happy with the way their rigs performed. Friday was Felix in his new (to him anyway) 80, Steve in his very capable white 60, Charlton in his 40, Bill Smith in his 66 FJ40 and me in my 76 FJ40.

Saturday we were joined by Ben Delp in his toy truck, John Merkey in his 80, Craig Merkey in his 40, Jeeper Jim, Chris Bury in his 80, Todd Oldenburg in his cool 70 series and Todd's brother Eric in his goat pig!!!!! We headed across the road to the northeast property (pay $10 extra to wheel there), me navigating and riding with whomever's truck was in the lead. I had a bad oil leak from my transfer case and didn't drive Saturday.

The new property is cool- I'd been over there a few times but for the last two years. Different wheeling over there, I don't recall exactly what trails we did but they were all fun. We wheeled a bit then headed out to area 51- then up trail R. Ben Delp did Outer Limits in his truck and after lunch we started on trail 32. It was not too rough but really off camber- we have some pictures especially of Steve's 60 to show just how tippy that ride was. After that we split up and let the more adventurous (and less tired) souls do some tougher trails and the majority of the group drove back through the property and back to the staging area.

There is an interesting short but very steep and slippery hill climb on the NE property that made for some exciting moments- slippery clay with some pebbles on it and a big muddle at the bottom approach. There's some good shots of a screamin' 70 gonna be posted this week with at least two wheels in the air.

All in all I'd call it an exceptional weekend of wheeling. Good people good weather and good wheeling, what more can you ask for. Thanks Bill Smith for all your help and for the stickers; thanks Steve for the entertainment and for all the Fat Tire bottles; thanks, too, to everyone who showed up and wheeled. Gary S
