A 5 speed and Sniper kit sounds like a GREAT 2F setup!?I should have also said that I have a H55F 5-speed which helps with the mph’s. Still loud though.
Oh my! That’s some serious seat time in a classic.left Sunday a.m. and home at home midnight Monday that's some Burning![]()
Absolute all-time winners of the Iron Butt Award! They hadn't even pulled all the way into the campground when Bob walked over to our site and said "I have something for you." I'd previously ordered patch panels and installed them. He handed me a set of his threshhold plates...no charge. And who can forget @Gordobe finally arriving after two stops for engine work on his way from SoCal?Ron took his time but me and @remy1974 burnt some miles. Left NH on Monday and Colorado Springs on Thirstday over the Little Bump and in camp on Friday ( amazing how Funyuns and Jerky and
keeps ya going.) Partyed, wheeled, left Sunday a.m. and home at home midnight Monday that's some Burning

@bobm driver and passenger floor panels plus a bunch of frame/body mounts saved my pig…but I really like the shiny scuff plates the best mostly because they are shiny!Absolute all-time winners of the Iron Butt Award! You can add modern touches, but where does it stop? I think the smaller chunks that are more keeping with the vehicle you drive are the way to go.After 4 PP’s all in western states I have driven 600-900 miles one way in my pig with a 2F and Holley Sniper. I can do 75-80 but it is still loud and hot even with Vintage Air AC. Maybe I should have put a modern engine in it like some of the other guys? Or maybe I just need to break my drives into smaller chunks so I can truly enjoy the ride?
You don't drive these to be efficient, rather you drive a Pig in the pursuit of Excellence!2F with a 4 speed is enjoyable at 55-60mph, faster than that I start to dread that ol' 2F. Frontage roads and back roads are my preference too. Getting cross country in a 2F... it is hard to be efficient.
I feel you Ron. It is so great to see everyone! There are so many reasons to do an engine swap or to leave it an 2F, all up to want you're planning to do with it. There's no way I want to cross the great prairie, loaded down with camping crap, in the Summer heat, in my seventies and having my wife along to suffer through my stupid ideas of having fun. Even with a go fast motor, I can take three, four or even five days, just to get out West to a Pig Party and that's one way. We do that a couple times a year, one for the Party and one just for us to get lost on our own and if I'm feeling spunky and the Mud Hen ain't broke, a couple of short trips around the Midwest.
We look forward to making another Pig Party, just to see our friends. We don't care where or when, if we can make it, we'll be there. Jeri will bring cookies.![]()
@bobm - Didn't you and @remy1974 lose clutch hydraulics on that trip as well? So you were shifting clutchless the entire time?Me and @remy1974 did the Rico in 2017! 2300+ miles across the great planes with a 2f and sun bearing down on us cruising around 70, with bags of ice on the floor. Thank goodness for that kid watering the plants on the Colorado border. Laugh myoff the whole trip
. Oh and only had 3 brakes. Partied and wheeled and made a bunch of new friends Great peeps.Arrived on Friday night wheeled Saturday and left Sunday was home at midnight Monday. Would love to squeeze in another but needs to be closer. Best trip ever
