Hey folks,

I'm at the point that I'm finishing off my brake system on my 40 and was hoping for a little help. I'm mostly looking for help with fittings and soft line location. Here's what I got so far in my system:

1-Hydroboost and MC from a 89 GM Vandura 2500 diesel MC fittings are: front 1/2 inverted flare, rear 9/16 inverted flare
2-Wilwood proportioning valve (up to 3000psi for the hyrdoboost): fittings: adapters that will accept a 3/8 inverted flare
3- stock Toyota T's on the axle from a 75 FJ40 with drums on all corners
4-95 4Runner front calipers
5-78 Monte-Carlo front calipers for the rear
6-all new hard lines that I'll form and flare as needed so I can use any fittings I need at the ends.

Now for the questions:

1-Does anyone have pictures of the following softlines: frame hardline to rear axle, frame hardline to under hood & under hood to front axle
2-fitting size for the 95 4Runner calipers
3-fitting sizes for the stock Toyota T's
4-how long should the softlines from the 4Runner calipers be if I'm running no dust shield and going to stock tombstones locations

This is (I think) the last piece of puzzle to get my 40 to finally move & stop under its own power.

Thank you for the help

M10x1.0 are the size for the Toyota brake fittings, both 4Runner and your stock Toyota Ts.

Napa #38881 is what I used on my truck to go from the axle hard line to the caliper.

As for the "under hood" soft line, not sure what you're referring to. There should be a hardline that goes from your MC all the way to the frame T (with a couple of loops in it) and then from your T there should be a short hardline then a soft line to go to the front axle.

Johnny

Thank you for the info the fitting and hose for the front caliper.

As for the softlines under the hood, I guess I had forgoten about the second T in the system. I'll have to see if I still got those kicking around in the part pile. I guess after 6 1/2 year on a project you forget things ;)

The fitting for my front hard line isn't actually a T, but a L if you will. One fitting in from the top, one fitting out along the frame.

If you need, I can grab some pics from my 60.

The more I think about, I think I've got the lines and the "L" for the front brakes all still attached as an assembly in my above head storage in the shop. If I find it, I'll roughly put it back into place and see where everything should go.

I imagine that the rear circuit is somewhat the same. I 'll have to see what I've got left hidden in storage.

Johnny, can you do me a favour and measure the outside diameter of the 38881 hose you have the front caliper. I want to get some gravel guards for them and want to make sure I get the right diameter.

Thanks,

Thanks,

It's ~1/2". I can get you a measurement but it'll be a while. Busy weekend coming up.

Johnny, thank you for the info. Should be good to work with.

Tapage, the bore on the MC is 1 1/8". Everything I've read seems to say that I'll be ok with that.

Just talking by my experience in Tencha when I went HB with chevy hydro boost .. I try all from 1" to 1 1/4"

4R V6 Calipers on front and eldorado rears ..
