Last wheeling trip i had the front end air born in a few times during an atempt at a rock wall.

Well the bottom knuckle bearing blew into a zillion litttle parts and traveled thru out the knuckle, scrawping and scoring the birf, scraping the axel tub it self, the pin it sits on. Little parts of metal where found inbedded everywhere. I'm going to litely sand the out side of the birf smooth and throw it back in. Nothing was found of the bottom bearing besides the inner race of the bearing that only had a little part of the lip left on it, and a small part of the cage.( i wont be suprise if it kablamos on me some time soon) Pretty much everything inside the spindle was scared somehow. I'm not sure why this failure happened though. I guess it was from the front end coming down hard......but i wasnt giving it to much hell. the rock face was steep enough that with a little pedal the tires would leave the ground....ahhh welll.

on a side note. the bearing made no noise when it went and no one took notice of it til about 3 more trails later. Prob why so much damaged occured. there is more damage pics buttt the paragraph says it all.

I'd relegate that birfield to emergency backup status. That's a failure just looking for a bad place to happen. :)
