In my first post introducing myself I said I'd have some photos to follow... Here they are, although not what I first had in mind.
I really wanted to get the interior looking good and there was tons of surface rust in the jump seat area where the paint had been rubbed off. Out came all the jump seats, front seats, heater, and rubber flooring.
Ended up finding a moderate sized rust hole in one of the typical spots next to the drivers seat in the well between it and the door. Spent several nights with a torch, scraper, and wire wheel getting that sticky tar crap off the floor pan areas and coated it all with a rust coverting sauce (some rustoleum thing) but in the process found the hole that was covered with some silicone. I've got a couple buddies who are going to help me get it cut out and new piece welded in. It's killing me not driving it though. Only drove it for a week before starting in on it.
Jump seat frames have all been sand blasted and painted and new covers on order from SOR along with a few other bobbles. Pulled the seat glides off, blasted and painted those as well. Finally, blasted and painted the rear heater and have it working all right.
Ran into an issue with the fuel tank cover. One of the screws busted off trying to remove it. Tried to easy-out it but the easy-out broke off in the screw too. Now with a piece of hardened steel in it, drilling it out all the way was no longer an option so I ground off the captured nut from beneath and will have to weld a new one on.
Itching to get this floorboard fixed so I can get on with the work and start driving again.
