Hey everyone/anyone,
I am in the process of putting a Flaming river tilt column in my 71 40 and I was wondering how to mount it. The column is a 2" diameter, or slightly smaller so it will fit into the original dash clamp/holder. I would like to see some pics of anyone who has mounted these types of columns using the ididit or flaming river swivel ball type of mount.
I have seen many pics of people who have welded the column directly to a mounting plate and have bolted it to the firewall. I originally did this, but ground off all the welds because I didn't really like the way it looked.
I know some have swapped the firewall for a newer model 40 so they can use the BTB or advance adapters type of firewall mount, but I was hoping someone would have used the aforementioned types of mounts and would have a pic or two.
I am willing, to an extent, to cut some of the firewall to get the swivel mount to work but would like to see if someone has done this so I can head in the right direction.
