So is FREE to much to pay;)

Is there anything legally I need to do to transfer ownership of an engine?

Owner said it ran before he pulled it, it just smoked a bit. He pulled it to put into a project rig but doesn't have time to finish it. He is moving into a new house and is desperate to get rid of it. He said it probably needs to be rebuilt.

I figure you can't go wrong with a free spare engine.

Might not hurt to get a bill of sale with it.

Is it complete? From the pic it appears the intake and EFI stuff are missing...

I picked it up today and he handed me a Rubbermaid with the efi and all the other stuff in it. I think he said he was missing the harness.

You would only need the harness if you were going to swap it into a non-EFI truck. Do you know what year truck it came from?

Good point. It came from an 85' p/u.

The owner was a real nice guy. Moved to Topeka two years ago and works for KDOT in the Bridge Dept. he owns a 62 and an 80 LC.

I told him about TAC, he seemed very interested.

I'm looking forward to doing my first rebuild. But first I need to get this 4Runner rollin'.

Who is it - I know quite a few guys in the Bridge Department.

Matt Isley...I told him about you - but couldn't remember the name of your Company.

I'm here!!

That RE was mine. Stats on the motor:

It came out of an '85 extended cab with an auto tranny. The truck was shot and the tranny was slipping badly. I parted the truck for the front axle and the tranny and kept the motor for a spare incase I ever needed it.

I pulled the intake/exhaust and planned to sell it but I ended up using parts of the harness to wire in the tranny in my 92(5speed originally). I just never got around to selling the efi so it found a corner in my garage. short of a few nuts and bolts and the harness it is all there. (i'm pretty sure the ecu is still in my garage somewhere so if you need it Randy let me know)

It had about 127000 on the clock at the time. I never did a compression test so I can't comment on that. Other than being an oily mess and a hint of blue smoke it ran fine.

If it is going in anything you plan on drive down the highway I would plan on rebuilding.

Hey Matt-

Glad you found your way on to the board. As a matter of fact I started cleaning up the engine last night. I started working my way through the rubbermaid as well and it looks like most everything is there. But as you said, I have alot of oil to clean off ;-)

I'll definitely take the ecu if you find it.

The plan is definitley to do a rebuild on the engine.

If and when I find a 5-speed, the auto is all yours.

I'll keep an eye out for it. Chances are we will be moving this spring so it should turn up some time. If it's not here then it is back home in my shop. I never seem to throw anything away so i'm confident it's hanging around.

Thanks in advance for the tranny, now I just need a project to put it in... :D

Matt
