Check out this post. The barrier uses metal straps to connect the framed screen to the truck interior. The bottom is held by one set of holes through the bottom of the bed, just behind the wheel well. It has two sets of staps for the bottom mount, long straps for the forward position and short straps for the aft position. It also mounts to the interior roof above the window, and uses two sets of holes, forward and aft and one set of straps. There are threaded backing plates that fight on the other side of the sheet metal and a large thumbscrew is used to secure each strap to the backing plate.

I keep a small cooler on the floor behind the front seats. If the cage is in the forward position, yeah, I have to make frequent stops.

As for the roof attachment, yes, I drilled three holes through the steel of the inner roof knuckle for each support point. Two small holes (about 1/4) to hold the backing plate and one large hole (about 1 inch) to (a) to allow placement of be backing plate behind the inner steel and for the thumb screw. These holes are finished off with the plastic covers. This picture is a little blurry, but I hope it helps.

I don't remeber it being that much $$$, and I thought mine was one piece from the very back all the way up the back seat. Oh well, I'm sure I'm wrong on both of them :grinpimp:
