Pet Sitting -Dog Fight- Do I pay Vet bills?

So, I know this is way off topic, but I'm curious. I live in California and I was "fostering" a dog for a dog shelter.

The dog was here for about 3 weeks without incident, and then one day one of my dogs went after the foster dog. The dog required vet treatment... now the shelter is threatening to sue me, but I haven't said that I wouldn't pay for the medical treatment - nor have they given me any vet bills to pay?

although, admittedly, since they're being such bungholes, It makes me want to tell them to shove it. I didn't sign any fostering contracts or anything like that - but it was in my home, but they did a home check and okayed me --

what can i do?

what the hell did your dog do? stab the shelter dog?? If the foster dog people don't have the money to feed the dog, how are they going to sue you?

if it was a shelter dog i would say adopt it and then euthanize it...

I would go trolling on the other side of the tracks for an undamaged, replacement street mongrel to give to the shelter.

So you joined a forum about vehicles to ask for advice about dogs... Hmm, It never occurred to me to seek advice for trucks on a dog forum. I may have to try that. What is the name of this fine shelter and what part of CA is it located?
