I'm shopping for new tires for an '06 350z. The OEM are staggered 225/45/18 front and 245/45/18 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE040A. "A" traction, 140 treadlife, speed rating W (168 MPH). It looks like I'm going to get 25-28k miles out of the OEM.

I need a W or Y speed rating, A or AA traction, and would like to exceed the 140 treadlife. Reduced noise would be nice as the Potenza's are loud.

I've heard some good things about the Goodyear F1 GSD3. Tirerack has some great reviews of a new version (III) of the Sumitomo HTRZ. It's inexpensive and beat out many of the high end tires. I've also read about disappointments with the earlier version HTRZ.

Anyone got a summer performance tire they're really happy with? What kind of treadlife are you getting from them?

Last year my dad replaced the michelins on his g35 coupe with some Avon something or others from tire rack. Basically whatever tire rack recommended for the car. They're the 18" high performance ones. Really nice all around tire. They have very very slightly less performance over the michelins however the noise was beyond cut in half, its a much smoother tire and so far we've got 20k mi. on them and at the rate they're wearing it looks like we're going to get 60k out of them. The michelins we had came new with the car and they were bald to the point of a flat tire at 15k mi. I'd check the Avon's out, they still perform well. Good pricing too.

Thanks Bryan. Your dad's tires are summer not A/S right?

Anyone else?

I have a 2003 TT g35. I strongly recommend the goodyear gsd3 as a 1st choice,
Thats what I have on my car right now. They're great in the rain (and dry of course).
They wont last as long as other tires with harder compound, but are great tires...

my second would be the michelin pilot sports

the sumitomo have alot of sidewall flex as do the Avons
