Peeling Paint

Do anyone on here have a clear coat peeling issue? I have a 2008 LC with 216k. I call it the Amazonian (green). I had for the last 2 years without any issues. Recently noticed spots all over the hood was peeling. Some are pitted from road travel. Fair enough but I was waxing the rig and noticed the roof is pretty bad all over. Read online about a recall. Brought to a local dealer. They said that LC wasn't apart of the recall that recently expired in February. Also mentioned that the vehicles they resprayed was a pearl white. Did mention to contact Toyota and see what they say. He said I can get it repaired at my own expense and hopefully Toyota will reimburse me. He was very doubtful about it lol. Also mentioned that possibly the Gobi roof rack is causing it. All of the peeling is concentrated directly under it. Then that don't explain the hood. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue. All other panels are in great condition. Thanks

Do you keep it parked outside? Those UV rays over time are pretty harsh on everything.

I have a 2008 w/ 270k. Red. Starting to get slight clear coat peeling at the upper tailgate (below glass) and a little on rear bumper. Had a detailed guy do some work and he stated that the clear coat was very thin all over. Park outside in Maine.

Is that the Gobi Stealth rack? Nice rig. Did you ever find a "fix" for your clearcoat issue?

Yeah it's a Gobi bro. No issue with it. As far as the clear coat it's still peeling. At this point not even worrying about it anymore. At 233k miles it does add some character lol. Unless I find a hood at the junkyard. I even looked for a hood decal to no avail unfortunately.

Light sanding and wrap it, maybe?

I've seen solar panels that mount to the hood, but you're probably peeling on more than just the center raised portion
