The old school superchips flashpaq takes the throttle lag out and has an "off-road" mode to allow you to relax the throttle response for off-road situations. I added the SC a couple months after I bought mine because I couldn't stand the electronic throttle. The jeep has been more enjoyable without the lag, about 182k miles enjoyable and I've not run into any reliability issues with it.
