Time for something new (at least for some of us)!

I plan to drive to Crested Butte and over Pearl Pass (if the snow's gone...and not started again yet) on Saturday, camping somewhere on the north side Saturday night. I would like to try Taylor Pass and Italian Creek Rd on Sunday, returning through Crested Butte. Anyone up for a challenging, scenic weekend??

Anyone thinking about attending this? Got a report that Pearl just opened a couple weeks ago. Some dudes went up there with snow shovels and cleared it. Should be an awesome run.

Well, I though I was going to make this one for sure, but scheduling conflicts with my deck project are going to prevent it. Sorry guys.

So, is anyone going with us?

I ended up making it out, with Rodney in tow. We didn't decide we were going until about 10:00 Friday night, but glad we did. Met up with Sam and Sandy at the trailhead. Drove the trail with them until they picked a camp spot, then we took off for home via Taylor pass. Taylor pass is officially the roughest trail I've EVER been on in my entire four wheeling career. Won't be going back. Pearl was awesome. We ended up getting home at midnight.

I some how didn't get a picture of the Hummer H1 10,000 pound behemoth that was blocking the trail with a broken ball joint. An older couple was on excursion from Wisconsin? I think? They had everything they needed to get it fixed, we only had to wait for 20 minutes or so, others had been waiting an hour or so. Nice people.

Gorgeous views! I agree Taylor Pass is the devil. I've been up it twice and it gives me a headache.

Yep, just as many miles of rocks as Hermit, but all about 2 sizes larger. It definitely got old long before we were done. But, spectacular scenery everywhere! If you weren't there, you should have been. One or two weeks later and you'd probably need two sets of sunglasses to deal with the aspen glare. Maybe next year...

Thanks for coming out, Luke. It was a pleasure. And yes, the H1 was from WI. He's a way bigger man than I driving that thing on the shelves on Pearl!!!
