I have been in the process of replacing all of my hoses--the one coming off of the pcv on top of the valve cover is stuck--I removed Toyotas spring hose clamp but this one won't budge. Also can I just replace the hose with a standard gates rubber version? I noticed there is a bit of a carbon build up in this particular hose.

take care that the broken bits of hard rubber dont fall down in the hole. you could try holding a shop vac close to it while pulling it out.

if you replace the PCV hose with a non formed bulk hose it rubs on the padding under the hood.

call Dan get both PCV hoses wile you are at it, the larger one tends to crack.

Thanks RavenTai I got ahold of Dan earlier this afternoon--both hoses are on order along with a hose for my brake booster....

.

Yep happened with mine.

Not sure, I might have misunderstood the question but ... take a pair of pliers and REAL SOFTLY grip the hose as close to the end as possible perpendicular to the fitting and rotate the rubber of the hose a few degrees left and right til it moves off of stuck. The hose should be simple to remove then. If not, use a large flat tip screwdriver under the hose and push it off. Be careful to be careful with the pliers; just enough energy to break the bond between the rubber and the metal is all it takes, dont deform the metal or ruin the hose in the process. HTH.
