Recently replaced the PCV/Grommet and i noticed a silver film (Silver Anti Seize) between the valve cover and the PCV grommet. I didnt have any handy so i went with out it. Seems like a good idea to keep the rubber from sticking. Any thoughts?

I've always used never seize or silicone grease between the rubber and metal parts. Helps when you have to remove them.
Especially radiator and heater hoses.

I doubt that it was anti-seez on the PCV grommet. If it is a 3FE they have a painted silver VC and the effects of heat, vibration and lube oil is to chafe away at the VC, transferring powdered paint & metal to the grommet.

Also, there's no need for anti-seez or silglyde on that particular grommet, as it is always oily anyway.

As mentioned above, I do recommend antiseez on every metal to metal threaded fastener on a cruiser,
and sil-glyde on every rubber coolant hose.

Yeah, Sil Glyde that's the stuff. :hillbilly:

Every hose

Just want to mention that I ran into a problem doing that with one of the coolant hoses on my 84 FJ60. The lower pump hose to the plastic connector that runs under the AC bracket. It did make it vastly easier to get the hose on. It also caused a problem when I was backfilling/flushing the system with city water pressure - the damn thing kept sliding off! I eventually got as much as I could wiped off, and under normal operating pressure (13psi vs what I suspect was about 20 to 25psi) it hasn't been a problem, but I would be careful with how much you use.

Will try and get one of the "bendy" generic hoses if I have to replace that lower again, and rid myself of that rotten plastic insert - I think its meant to be kept in place by a nut (diagram shows one) but on my rig its MIA.
