Hey guys new to forum. I this topic might be around somewhere I’m sure but haven’t been able to find it.
bought 94 fzj 80. have been taking a part got new paint on it working on stripping interior. So my question I’m asking. I found someone selling a 97 80 series. Cheap prize. mine needs some parts. So figure buying this a good idea considering what parts cost for this thing? In addition how much of interior can be swapped. Like dash and all? And help I’d appreciate be for I jump on it. The photos are of mine now

Dash changed between 94 and 95 so they are different. 94 had no air bags. 95 and up steering wheel and dash air bags. Headliners are different. Center console on 97 has a middle section making it taller but still fit on the same base. Some trim differences like chrome piping on the door panels, but most parts are the same. (I had a 94 and 95)

Engine is the same but some egr parts are different. Transmission is different but the center differential (I think) is the same. Axels are the same. 94 May have manual seats. 97 will be power seats.

EmIssions and electrical system will be different. The 95-97 are OBD-II vs OBD-I???? for the earlier models. Interiors are substantially different as noted above by @flagstaff

Thanks for all the advise. Decided wouldn’t be worth getting and switching everything. Just going to keep interior as is.
