You might pull out Steering coulmn go with a newer ,non 3 speed on the tree.I have 3 speed floor adapters that mount directly to your transfer case $50 .Throw in a newer steering box//frame mounted $35 .....You would be getting rid of 10 feet of linkage thats ,probaly causing most of the problems.

I'm looking for a tailgate that would fit a 76, preferably half doors that swing out rather than a single gate that folds down. I'm not sure what the options are from 76 as mine just has a welded in plate.
