This trip was AWESOME!
You could not ask for [or get] better weather for DV in November. No wind to speak of, highs near 80, lows in the mid 40s with low humidity. Good friends, good food, good wheeling, campfire music and humor that would put a smile on anyone's face. Pretty much the best that desert wheeling has to offer.
Our group 'cut from the herd' on Saturday and we had our own five-truck leisurely run to the Defense Mine, complete with both the Zero Waterfall and Cummins Cutoff, which Doug got some really good video footage of.
After the event, Doug, Tamara, Alex, Ron, Randy and I took a CRAZY backroad adventure from Trona Pinnacles to the 395, experiencing 'technical difficulties' with BOTH the Ham and CB radios which left communications at the Morse Code level!;p And it definitely gave new meaning to the old expression 'driving off into the sunset'!
I'm still not registered for Facebook, so I'm hoping someone will crosspost some pictures here [ I left my camera at home…again!
