Hey everyone

Has anyone done this? I have a 2005 galactic grey mica (2006 conversion) and I thought it would look pretty clean body color instead of chrome. With a black emblem in the front. Has any one else done this? I've seen a lot of black but not body color. Thanks!

Pretty sure I've seen a few with color-matched grilles on their rigs, both cruisers and LX. Not sure if I can recall any with your color, but you can search and see if you can find one. Some have variations too - like color matched inner grill structure with a black "frame/perimeter" or vice versa. Some even have the "satoshi grill" (mesh insert with Toyota script instead of sombrero emblem)

Here is r71's truck. Looks great.

Wish i could afford to do this. Great looking rig.

I'll bet if you set up a Go-Fund-Me account, you'd hit the $6 mark in no time. Seriously though... repainting, even body-matching the grille will set you back a single can of spray paint. If your 100 is white or gray, chances are Lowes or Home Depot has a color on the shelf that'll match. Otherwise, buy the Dupi-Color rattle can that matches your paint code.

I found a rattle can at Home Depot that was an exact match for the dark gray trim. I left the outer edge and Sombrero chrome.

Different truck, but search Limited 4runners, which have color keyed grilles to get a visual idea.

I did it on both of mine and made the chrome bits black on both.

I did end up bed lining the grille on the 2000 when I did the lower half of the doors a couple days after this picture

So you can remove the body molding on the Lx? Does it require body work? I was thinking vinyl wrapping the rig to conserve the stock paint.

I need to know the products / process that you used to do this. I can't stand scratches on plastic chrome so I'm eager to do this if I can find out what you used.

The white one I had my body shop paint it all gloss onyx black and then put the blizzard pearl on the center part. The other truck we masked off the chrome and painted the factory 1C2 paint. When I ended up going to black trim I just wrapped the chrome with 3M vinyl.

This one is anthracite Plasti-Dip center with vinyl film on the chrome. It's been replaced with the F-Sport grille now though.
