So I'm sanding down some putty on my roof and it looks really nice and smooth except for the occassional really tiny pinhole. Do I need to add more putty to cover those little tiny holes or will the primer and paint fill them? They are literally pinhole size, 1/10th mm or so.

Use a high build primer, wet sand, repeat. Should take care of it.

I recently painted my truck and missed 2 or 3 tiny pinholes in my prep work (I live in a high-rise with strict local laws prohibiting you from working on your truck, so I had to sneak out and do it at night...I wouldn't recommend going that route). You don't really notice them but they if you're a perfectionist they are there.

get glazing putty, its a brownish ultra fine putty. it gets smoothed on, or you can dab some on your finger and fill, wipe it smooth. sand lightly after.

Or high build primer outta do it.
