Glad to meet you!
I have a 1982 FJ60. From 10 feet away the paint looks great!
However there is a trouble area under the fuel door where paint has deteriorated to bare metal. See pic.
I have reason to believe the whole truck has been resprayed at some point in its life. The passenger side rear quarter and cargo area also look like they could have been sprayed again at a different time (and poorly done) because they are very dull finish while the rest of the truck is shiny, almost too shiny for single stage but what do I know.
Anyways, long preamble, but I am wondering if when the truck was resprayed the PO had some clear coat done? How do I tell? I want to respray the rear quarter where the fuel door damage and the cargo area because it is sort of dull looking but thinking single stage won't be as shiny as the rest of the truck. Here are some pics in case they help evaluate for the paint experts
Does this shiny paint look like single stage or clear coat?
